Defense Force Secondary Selection Exam Final Test, a gathering of would-be Kaiju hunters who braced themselves for the test task ahead. Though with Kikoru Shinomiya favored to take the lead and most of the score, most were sure they would fail or not gain high recognition.
Up to this point, nothing abnormal happened in the city; certainly nothing happened at a local hospital that didn't change Kafka Hibino's life forever as another unlucky soul inherited the Kaiju No. 8 title. However, with his injury still crippling him, he was unable to qualify for the test and crushed his dreams of moving beyond kaiju cleanup. With him out, the rest of the candidates all lined up for the test, each bracing and steeling themselves for the battle ahead.
With a loud buzzer sound, everyone raced off, hunting down monsters and other creatures to rack points up, unaware of the drones above that monitored their skills and teamwork for the duration of the exam.
"Looks like Shinomiya is about to win," one of the test proctors motioned after some time; the exam began as Shoshiro Hoshina nodded.
"Yep, any good candidates?" he asked hopefully.
"They all seem pretty mediocre..." another responded.
"Great, well hopefully they can amount to something," he said as Kikoru soon dealt the final blow, ending the exam.
"Confirmed, all Kaiju are down," one of them called out.
"Great, get medics in to help the injured and start cleaning up so—" he began to say as the screens blared.
"Warning, an unknown creature is in the exam space!"
"What?" he cried out as on the field was Kaiju No. 9, whose unholy appearance raised some dead Kaiju and stared down a frightened and yet glaring Kikoru.
"What the hell? Who are you!" she cried out as Kaiju No. 9 looked at her with interest.
"Uuuhhhh, hrmmm, yes, yes you will do..." he spoke as she braced herself as all her senses screamed of danger.
"Whatever you are, you're going down!" she cried out as she led a small few people forward to attack the oncoming kaiju, and in the chaos, she was separated from any prying eyes, human and drone.
"Gaaah!" Kikoru cried out as she landed against a wall. Special kaiju, along with Kaiju No. 9, surrounded her; their gathered aura was blocking out any preying eyes on their target.
"M-Monster! Pure monster!" Kikoru spat out at him as she struggled to stand.
"You slaughter my kind and yet call us monsters? From where we stand, you're the monster, human," it spoke down to her as Kikoru gritted her teeth.
"Just die!" she shouted while pulling out a hidden handgun, attempting to fire only for a bloblike substance to cover her arm, making her drop her gun. "Gaaah!" she cried out as more blob substance covered her, slowly covering her limbs and beginning to become sticky as it restrained her.
"Now come along, I have many plans for you..." Kaiju No. 9 spoke as it reached out to her, the blob stuff having reached and covered Kikoru's mouth, muffling her panicked screams.
"MMMMMMMMPPPPPPHHHHHHHH!" she cried out as she was soon taken away.
With Kaiju No. 9 now gone, the rest of the battle was swiftly ended by backup from higher-rank hunters appearing, allowing command to check on everyone.
"Where is Kikoru Shinomiya? Where is Shinomiya’s daughter?" he screamed out, panicked and concerned.
"I'm sorry, sir, no signal, no sign of her body anywhere, she... she must have been devoured, sir..." the scout replied.
"This won't go over well..." Shoshiro spoke as they were all left fearful, as Kikoru was carried far off and put somewhere very secluded.
